The Union for the Public Domain (UPD) has received a $25 thousand grant to support travel for civil society and academic experts to attend the remaining 2011 negotiating rounds for the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA). The UPD Board is convening a subcommittee of its board to solicit and review applications and to allocate these grants, for attending 2011 rounds of the negotiations. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam round (20-24 June) San Francisco round (6-14 September) Lima, Peru round (24-28 October) Selection criteria for the awards of these funds will be based on the following: * Geographic diversity and representation, with preference given to representatives from countries that are current negotiating or prospective TPPA membership * Area of expertise/substantive knowledge of the applicant * Proven track record on issues covered by the TPPA * Potential influence of the applicant If you would like to apply for a travel grant for any of the remaining TPPA negotiating rounds, send a note to Krista Cox <[email protected]> who will forward your information to the UPD selection committee. Given the size of the travel grant and the number of meetings, UPD will undoubtedly not be able to fund all of the applications. -- Krista Cox Staff Attorney Knowledge Ecology International www.keionline.org (202) 332-2670 -- Krista Cox Staff Attorney Knowledge Ecology International www.keionline.org (202) 332-2670
