Jammie Thomas-Rassett, a name whose copyright infringement case has
seemingly been in the courts forever, just had the damages she has to pay
lowered from $1.5 million to $54,000. Her case is groundbreaking, if you
will—it was the "first file-sharing copyright infringement lawsuit in the
United States brought by major record labels to be tried before a
jury."<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitol_v._Thomas>

Juries ruled multiple times that she was guilty of copyright infringement,
but each of the previous times she was set to pay a whole lot of money
($62,500 last time) *per song*. And the judge, each time, found the amount
grossly out of proportion and thus unconstitutional.
