Hello everyone,

Hope those of you who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy are safe and
well. Free Culture X (formerly named the SFC NYC Conference) planning is
underway with vigor.

The date has been set: *April 20-21, 2013. *
The location: *New York Law School*, 185 West Broadway, New York, NY 10013

Taking advantage of this once-a-year gathering of free culturites, this
year's "conference" will all be about creating actionable activist campaign
and outreach recipes. In addition to the traditional keynotes and panels,
we're organizing workshops around the issues we care about. We're hoping
participants will put their minds, creativity, and passion to work,
creating projects and campaigns to be implemented post-conference.

To make this conference model a reality, we're looking for a core group of
SFC members and alumni to join the "FCX Programming Committee." Members of
this committee will help formulate the workshops, lead a workshop session,
serve as a moderator to make sure the session stays on point, and/or
facilitate the presentation of workshop results. Ideal members of the
committee will have had experience with a free culture related campaign in
specific area, such as open access to education, alternative copyright
education, Internet freedom, privacy education/reform, etc. The board
members of SFC will provide the support, structure, and resources necessary
to make each workshop viable and successful.

If you're interested in becoming a member of the FCX Programming Committee,
know someone who might be interested, or have a recommendation, please
email [email protected] with the subject line: "*FCX Programming
Committee*." As always, we're open to any suggestions, questions, or
concerns. We're looking forward to seeing what responses we get! Thanks!

Cheers,

Jennifer
Conference Coordinator
