You could add a validation rule that takes the pattern as a parameter,
something like this:
(function() {
var match = function(value, pattern) {
// matching code here
};
jQuery.validator.rules.pattern = function(value, element, params) {
return match(value, pattern);
};
})();
And the using it like this:
<input validate="pattern:###-###-##" />
