For me the jQuery one is very choppy and never actually finishes. However, the prototype/scriptaculous one is choppy also but at least it finishes. Of course there is only so much a browser can take at once but at least jQuery's animation method should follow through. I'm wondering if the jQuery animate method is not time based and that is the reason why it doesn't finish sometimes. Perhaps I'll have to investigate this further when I find some time.
