(Offtopic) Sidenote about the mentioned Alistapart article: I like the whole idea, but I do not agree with using the map's images as CSS background images. The reason is obvious: CSS is about separating structure from presentation. So all kind of icons, visuals etc. that do not carry relevant information should go into CSS. But an image containing a map carries more information, therefore it belongs into the structure (html) and not into the presentational layer.
