What this comes down to is changing this HTTP header: >>> Content-Type: text/html into Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 I have no clue how to do that in ASP.net though. The meta tags for html documents are only a fallback for the real HTTP headers. HTTP headers always take precendence over meta tags.
