Nobody mentioned perl, the granddaddy of web scripting! Although perl 4 had a horrible syntax, and perl 5 was almost normal, perl 6 is turning into a beaut.
PHP, perl's illegitmate child is a nice easy way to script Python & Ruby are the probable heirs to perl java is, in my opinion, is the cobol of the 90's... too much code to do a simple thing... though reuse of code does help. Microsoft anything is fine for a closed intranet... Just not got the the Internet. You also get more quality code per hour from a higher level web dev language... Perl has Mason, Coldfusion stands alone. there are plenty. Again Perl... it has the largest user library! But, any language that will get the job done, and can be maintained by the staff is a good choice. _______________________________________________ jQuery mailing list [email protected] http://jquery.com/discuss/
