The application 'rsyslogd' is writing to file 'messages' on /dev/sda2
The application 'anerley-account' is writing to file '.xsession-errors'
on /dev/sda2
The application 'gconfd-2' is writing to file '%gconf.xml.new' on /dev/sda2
are the tree offenders...
my money is on syslog, eg something is constantly logging error messages....
