Hi all! I’m incredibly proud to invite everyone to log in for some upcoming student final project report outs. Our summer session of Digital Preservation spent the term looking at various materials from The Carpentries and doing an initial preservation assessment. This was a wonderful collaboration with my colleague, Dr. Rhiannon Bettivia, who is their instructor this summer. The students organized into three groups to look at different preservation issues around our blogs, etherpads, and assessment.
They also did a number of exploratory activities attempting to inventory and scope all the materials, resources, and other information about us. These three chosen topics were the best fit for the summer session scope. The groups will be giving report outs designed to be delivered to a stakeholder client, which is our community! So I’m really hoping some of us will be able to attend. There will be substantial question time. We have plans to continue these projects into the Fall semester student cohorts, getting into larger problem areas. We will be running from 6:30-9pm Tuesday, July 31 (may end early depending on how many questions there are) in current Illinois time (https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Digital+Preservation+student+report+outs&iso=20180731T1830&p1=3704&ah=2&am=30) I believe this will be recorded. Sharing that recording can be tricky, but it should be possible. All classes meet in a system called Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, which is web based.
