Hi Toby,

The EBI has just put together some webinars on data management in the life
sciences:

https://www.ebi.ac.uk/training/online/course/bringing-data-life-data-management-biomolecular-sciences

which may be of interest. Also, check out the data tree project:

https://datatree.org.uk/

It requires to log in to access materials though.

Best,
Sergio

Subject: Re: [discuss] Data Management Training Material

HI Toby,

I love this guide from Australia's ANDS -
https://www.ands.org.au/working-with-data/skills/23-research-data-things.

It's published under CC BY and even have a repurpose toolkit -
https://www.ands.org.au/working-with-data/skills/23-research-data-things/toolkit
 (also under CC-BY).

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Anelda

Hi Toby,

Various research data management groups in libraries in UK
universities (and surely elsewhere) are quite active. I am most
familiar with the one in Cambridge (https://www.data.cam.ac.uk/). I
know they have a lot if material, including teaching material (see for
example https://www.data.cam.ac.uk/data-management-guide). Somebody to
also get in touch with, if you are interested in somebody from the
library/data management side, is Marta Teperek
(https://www.linkedin.com/in/mteperek/) - I know her from Cambridge
and she is super dynamic and helpful and has a lot of experience.

I have published my data management plan for a BBSRC Tools and
Resources Development Fund (https://doi.org/10.3897/rio.3.e11624).
Also of interest are the funders documents describing their
expectations in terms of data management. I thing the Wellcome Trust
is probably the one ahead of the curve, where they have explicitly
broadened the scope of data to include software and all material
generated as part of a grant.

Hope this helps.

Laurent
