Hi everybody, given the Carpentries' focus on reproducibility, I want to share this article recently appeared on SIAM News about the reproducibility of linear algebra software and libraries: https://sinews.siam.org/Details-Page/reproducible-blas-make-addition-associative-again
It's very instructive and I think it helps grow awareness on the topic: linear algebra solvers are used as behind-the-scene engines in many applications (the Finite Element Method with all its variants, the Boundary Element Method, ..., and in general 90% of the techniques employed in scientific computing!). The link between floating-point arithmetic and (un)reproducibility is very important and often equally overlooked. Enjoy the reading!
