Hi folks,

A blog post <https://carpentries.org/blog/2018/10/ec-elections/> last month
announced elections for the 2019 Carpentries Executive Council. *There is
still a week and a half left before the November 26 deadline to submit your
nominations and recommendations!* Please see the blog post for complete
details, but these are the highlights:

1. *Voting Membership*: All community members should check to make sure
teaching and certification records are up to date in AMY, which will ensure
ballots are distributed appropriately for the election in the first week of
December. Please email [email protected] with any questions or
corrections related to Voting Membership
<https://docs.carpentries.org/topic_folders/governance/bylaws.html#individual-voting-membership>
.
2. *Community-elected positions*: Voting members in The Carpentries are
eligible to submit a self-nomination blog post
<https://docs.carpentries.org/topic_folders/communications/submit_blog_post.html>
for the two community-elected positions.
3. *Council-elected positions*: Anyone is welcome to submit a recommendation
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSekjBS9pR0k2HO3VVfCk7sOiOHcJbruw6O6BJCr_pA8bwqgWQ/viewform>
for the three council-elected positions. Individuals considered for these
appointments do not need to be members of The Carpentries.
4. *Community calls*: The current Executive Council will host two community
calls between November 28 and 30 to answer any questions about governance
or the election process, and also to allow community-elected candidates to
introduce themselves.

Please feel free to contact me individually if you have any questions about
this process, or about what involvement in the Executive Council entails.
I've personally found my involvement in governance of The Carpentries to be
pivotally formative in terms of personal and professional development. In
plainer language: exercising my leadership and strategic planning skills in
our community has changed my life! I hope you'll consider what
opportunities our community holds for you as well.
