This is a fair point, but I think the reason is that it's quite difficult to set up Git Bash to be able to run a python script, which happens at the end of the python lesson. In my experience, we're hardly ever able to get that far, but that's the reason. So being able to use Git and Python from the same shell is useful.

This aspect of set up isn't ideal, but I view it as 'try-linux-on-windows' rather than 'this is a suitable set up for working on windows'.

Er, wouldn't it make more sense to direct everyone to using the gitbash shell so that they stick to the same tool for the shell and git lesson (and so that the commands they learn are portable to *nix and mac)?
