Hi everyone! My name is Jay Lee, and I'm a data scientist in industry. I became a certified instructor last year, and has been involved with two workshops so far thanks to a great local community at Emory U. I only wish I had known about the Carpentries earlier in my career (or when I was still in school), but better late than never, and I hope to contribute to this great community as much as I can. Kudos to all of you!
I'm not sure how many on here are working in industry (as opposed to schools or research institutions), but lately I became curious how the Carpentries folks in industry have been successfully involving colleagues at work with the Carpentries. I understand not everyone shares the same interest in volunteering and educating, but as for my part, I started sharing local workshop info at work so that some of us can come and help out (or teach if they're certified). I was able to recruit a couple of close friends, but I'd like to spread the news about the Carpentries even more. So I wonder if there's any "About the Carpentries" materials that I could look at and share at work? The About page on SWC home page seems to be a good starting point, but I wonder if there has been any effort especially from the folks in industry to introduce the Carpentries to colleagues at work, and if that's the case, then I'd appreciate the pointer. (After two attempts on Twitter with the same question, I realized this channel might be a better place to ask this question. So, my apologies if you've seen this somewhere on Twitter before.) ------------------------------------------ The Carpentries: discuss Permalink: https://carpentries.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/T303ce034f7db0491-Ma1cf39d5fcb20f832bce966e Delivery options: https://carpentries.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/subscription
