Hi all,
We are hiring four new full-time team members! Please check out _our blog_ <https://carpentries.org/blog> and _our jobs page_ <https://carpentries.org/jobs> for details about the positions. We are excited to receive applications from many of our dedicated community members, and look forward to the opportunity to work with some of you more closely! When we initially posted these positions yesterday, we did not include a salary range. That was an error of judgement on our part. We have since received feedback from our community and updated the postings to include a salary range. Our initial decision to not include salary information was a response to the unpredictable costs of hiring internationally. These costs are heavily dependent on tax and employment laws that apply in each individual candidate’s location. We need to be able to be responsive to those unknown costs and incorporate them into the funding calculations for each position. However, we also recognise the importance of providing this information up front and are aware that not doing so can perpetuate the gender wage gap and discriminate against people of color. In response to your feedback, we have updated the postings to include the following language: “This is a remote position, and is initially funded for X years/months, with the possibility of extension. For US-based candidates, compensation will be RANGE USD annually, commensurate with experience. Outside the US, total compensation may need to be adjusted in accordance with legal and financial costs associated with international hiring and contracting for a US-based entity. All qualified applicants are highly encouraged to apply, and we will make every effort to be transparent about the impact of costs on potential compensation during the interview process.” We are confident that this language is more in keeping with our community values around transparency and openness, while still maintaining the flexibility we need around compensation for international positions. I would like to sincerely thank those of you who raised concern about not including this information. Your feedback is valuable, appreciated, and heard. Please continue to hold us accountable for setting a model for transparency and openness for our community and the world! Sincerely, Erin ------------------------------------------ The Carpentries: discuss Permalink: https://carpentries.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/Tc6819bd146865168-M577242304def5a7aaaf438b3 Delivery options: https://carpentries.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/subscription
