The elections for the 2019 Executive Council for The Carpentries have now concluded. We are grateful to the entire community for participating, whether through standing for election, recommending candidates, or submitting ballots.
For the community-elected positions, 1248 ballots were distributed to Voting Members and 419 ballots were cast (33.6% turnout). The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes and joining the Executive Council for two-year terms as community-elected members were Lex Nederbragt and Paula Andrea Martinez. The Executive Council received recommendations for eight individuals for the council-elected positions, from whom we elected Cedric Chambers and Konrad Förstner. These new members join continuing members Amy Hodge, Mesfin Chaka Diro, Elizabeth Wickes, Joslynn Lee, and Juan Steyn on the 2020 Executive Council of The Carpentries, which will assume governance responsibility on Feb 1, 2020. Many thanks to Karen Cranston and Raniere Silva, who (along with myself) are transitioning out of the Executive Council after many years of service.
