My understanding is that he uses R only for showing them how to do statistical
analyses and we have discussed the fact that he feels they don't really learn
R. It's mostly just an exposure to R. I believe he chose it because it's a
tool he is familiar with. We hope to find a way to help students become more
familiar with R and learn that coding is a tool that they can use in the future
for more complex problems. He is faculty at a small private college but they
have a high med school acceptance rate so his students are very capable.
