I’d like to share this announcement from a colleague for a session at this
year’s American Geophysical Union meeting. This is a great opportunity to bring
some of your Carpentries teaching and learning experiences to a large audience
of Earth and Space scientists. Please direct any questions to Kristin (contact
info provided below).

Thanks, Karl

Dear Colleagues:

You are invited to submit an abstract to our Fall 2021 AGU Session, entitled
“Research Data Management Training: Strategies and Resources”. Abstracts are
due August 4. Please submit abstracts
here<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm21/prelim.cgi/Session/123445>. This session
will be virtual and an eLightning format has been requested.

Session Description: Knowledge of research data management (RDM) practices is
becoming more important for Earth scientists. In this era of cross or
transdisciplinary science, researchers and students need to be aware of FAIR
data principles, how and where to archive data, and the tools and computational
skills needed to support data stewardship and reproducibility. Many Earth
scientists, however, remain unfamiliar with RDM practices and principles. This
session is open to all educators and trainers from universities and data
organizations to present on practices used to facilitate learning about RDM
(which may include the FAIR data principles), how they are described and
advertised to reach their target audiences, and any evidence of impact. Our
broader goal is to help the community understand the range of resources
available, to facilitate sharing of those resources among educators and
trainers, and to identify possible synergies between projects possibly leading
to greater distribution of RDM expertise.
