Hey Carpentries Community, Below is an opportunity that was asked to be shared with our community :)
*Open-Source Science (OSSci)*, a top-level NumFOCUS initiative prioritizing open-source software development to accelerate scientific discovery, was officially announced at SciPy last July, and our initial working groups are now getting under way. They cover both verticals (chemistry/materials, life sciences, climate/sustainability) and cross-cutting topics (reproducibility, mapping OSS across the scientific sector). We are hosting our first meetup next Thursday, February 16, 5-7.30pm Pacific Time at UC Santa Cruz (+ remote via Zoom). Maybe of interest to you or people in the wider Software Carpentry network? *OSSci Meetup: Increasing Research Impact Through Open Source and Open Data* https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ossci-meetup-increasing-research-impact-through-open-source-and-open-data-tickets-515172082567 -- *SherAaron N.
