I wanted to make this group aware of a current opening at UCSB Library as a 
Carpentry Community Lead. 

Reporting to the Director of the Data, Research, Exploration, Access & Methods 
Lab (DREAMLab), the Carpentry Community Lead works to ensure UCSB communities 
have equitable access to quality, well-structured, community-led workshops. 
Conducts outreach to UCSB constituents to raise awareness of the Carpentry 
programs and build an evolving community of volunteer Helpers and Instructors. 
Develops, delivers, and facilitates Software and Data Carpentry workshops, both 
online and in person. Using Github pages and markdown, creates and customizes 
standard Carpentries curriculum materials for local use.

*Required Qualifications*
 * Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. 
 * Working knowledge in R/Rstudio or Python.
 * Working knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to 
courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.), and ability to lead effective 
online and in-person classroom experiences.
 * 1-3 years experience with web publishing using Github Pages.
 * 1-3 years experience maintaining a professional relationship with learners, 
visitors, and other staff. 
 * Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently, both 
synchronously and asynchronously.
 * Maintain a professional manner toward colleagues and learners.

*Preferred Qualifications*
 * Conversant with other commonly used Digital Scholarship tools including but 
not limited to: SPSS, Stata, SAS, MATLAB, NVivo, Gephi, Eviews, Eikon 
Datastream.
 * Advanced Skills in R/Rstudio or Python.
 * Software Carpentry Instructor Certification (UCSB will sponsor).
 * Experience with data formats such as JSON, XML, or SQL.
 * Data sciences coursework, particularly in the social sciences and humanities.
 * Proficiency in analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication 
skills, collaboration and negotiation skills.
 * Demonstrated experience in outreach, communication and/or community 
engagement.
