Dear community,
After a discussion within the Software Carpentry Lesson Program
Governance Committee
<https://docs.carpentries.org/topic_folders/governance/lesson-program-governors.html> (SWC-LPGC),
I would like to prepare and submit a pull request to the Software
Carpentry website <https://software-carpentry.org/> in order to update
the images we use on our front page and give it a fresher look.
I would like to ask the community if they have useful photos or images
that can represent Software Carpentry, its values, and its workshop
styles. Currently, the images are associated to the "Our workshops",
"Our lessons", and "Get Involved" sections, but do not necessarily need
to be closely related.
Examples could be: photos taken (with consent) at an in-person workshop
or CarpentryCon, close ups of our sticky notes, an instructor speaking
from a pedestal, the swc logo in the real world; or more abstract photos
that represent our community in another way.
They should be:
- licenced to use freely, or released to The Carpentries by the author
for us to use
- representing the values, methods, topics, diversity of our community
- be taken with the consent of the people depicted. Those who provide
the images must confirm that consent has been obtained. Are you
organizing an upcoming Carpentries workshop? You could take this chance
to ask people for specific permission to take a photo for our website.
Please contact me if you have images to submit. (Please don't reply to all.)
Thanks and best,
Martino Sorbaro
SWC-LPGC Secretary
