Hello again, Last week we announced on our social media and on our Slack community channel that starting this month through June 2024 our Executive Director, Dr. Kari L. Jordan, will host six monthly open discussion community sessions under the theme of 'Reigniting Community'.
The purpose of these sessions is for Kari to engage with The Carpentries community on a variety of topics pertaining to the long-term sustainability of our organisation, as well as our continued shared commitment to our mission. For the benefit of community members unable to attend the live sessions, which Kari will be hosting in a different timezone each month, the summary of her presentation and discussion from these sessions, along with answers to questions raised at these sessions, will afterwards be shared as a conversation issue in our GitHub Conversations Repository. Community members can make comments or ask more questions in these conversation issues, and Kari will endeavour to respond timeously. The first session was on 8 January 2024 and it focused on the recent staff layoffs at The Carpentries, and explored some ideas on how we plan to collectively move forward in the near future. A GitHub conversation issue summarising this discussion and providing answers to questions that were asked during the session is now open for your comments and further questions: https://github.com/carpentries/conversations/issues/58 Best wishes, A.
