Hi everyone,

In case you missed it on the blog last week, the HPC Carpentry
<https://hpc-carpentry.org/> project has formally entered incubation as a
lesson program for The Carpentries
<https://carpentries.org/blog/2024/07/hpc-carpentry-incubation-announcement/>.

The mission of HPC Carpentry is to lower the barrier to entry to HPC operations
for a wide range of users, so that more learners can benefit from the
availability of increasingly sophisticated computer systems. The incubation
process brings the project a step closer to joining Data Carpentry, Library
Carpentry, and Software Carpentry as a lesson program of The Carpentries.

The blog post
<https://carpentries.org/blog/2024/07/hpc-carpentry-incubation-announcement/>
describes what all of this means in more detail, and outlines some ways that
you can get involved: helping with workshops, contributing to lessons, and
raising awareness of the project in your local institutes and communities.

The HPC Carpentry community meets twice a month at multiple times of day to
suit a spread of time zones. The next community calls are TOMORROW at 11:00 UTC
<https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20240801T13&p1=187&msg=HPC+Meeting+1>
 and 21:00 UTC
<https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20240801T17&p1=250&msg=HPC+Meeting+2>.
 You can find the events listed on the community calendar
<https://carpentries.org/community/#community-events>, and I recommend that you
also join the #hpc-carpentry channel on Slack if you are interested in
following or contributing to the project.

Thanks,

Toby
