A few years ago we tried out the in kernel SMB server, but were unable to
get it to work with our configuration, which requires SMB to be integrated
into our active directory domain and NFS with our MIT Kerberos realm, so we
stuck with samba. Now that SMB2 support has been upstreamed to illumos and
is available in omnios, I thought we'd give it another try, as I was under
the impression that code allowed the functionality we needed. I was fairly
sure I saw a commit fly by when things were being reviewed that talked about
storing the SMB Kerberos configuration in a separate file and not using the
UNIX Kerberos configuration.

However, one of my colleagues tried to configure SMB under omnios 018 and it
ended up overwriting /etc/krb5.conf just like it used to and broke nfs.
Before we investigate it further, I just wanted to clarify if my
understanding was correct and if it should be possible with the updated SMB2
code to configure a system where the SMB service was integrated with and
authenticated against active directory but the UNIX services and NFS
authenticated against and used an MIT Kerberos realm.

Thanks.
