Looking back at this, this only affects one locale, ar_EG.ISO8859-6

I'm inclined to nuke this locale. Apparently 8859-6 was never
popular -- at least according to wikipedia.

Then I looked around, and I see other candidates to remove.
Basically, I'm going to propose removing all the 8-bit character sets
*except* Latin-1. (Latin-1 is too widely used as a stand-in for
ASCII.)

Would anyone here miss any other encodings? KOI8-R? 8859-9? 8859-4? etc.

I see value in preserving only ISO-8859-1 and ISO-8859-15, along with
UTF-8 which should serve the entire world. But before I start nuking
things, I want your opinion. Do you use these encodings with illumos
or Solaris? Please tell me!

from what I heard, some east Asia locales are important for their users, in some countries even mandatory probably. I am trying to find more details on web.

Thanks.
