You're both not getting it: Oracle and Red hat compete for the most
profitable service. Profitable does not mean: Good engineering,
good/best (customer) service or 'bound to the rules of open source'.
Often it's not even intersecting with one of these items in the list,
it's more about what customers are willing to pay for promises from
marketing.
That's how at least Oracle makes business and why Sun failed: Sun had
solid, conservative engineering and didn't make wild promises which
engineering couldn't fulfil. Oracle does it the opposite way.
