Oh I should really have added, it would be great if the iSCSI initiator was bullet proof. There are so many real world scenarios where a little iSCSI magic could do really neat things - like what you're doing. In fact I'm sure there was a Sun Blueprint doing pretty much what you're doing for DB clustering, so in theory it's meant to work.
It shouldn't be that hard to debug, because the test rig is so easy to set up. But that would require someone with kernel skills and time.
