Thanx, the global zone has the real /dev/tun driver, no tun0. The /dev/tun0 appears in ifconfig once you start openvpn. The same happen inside the zone: once I've given /dev/tun to the zone and started openvpn inside the zone, the zone has /dev/tun0 in its ifconfig , while the global zone has none. It handles the driver in some way that it creates the tun0. IF that's the case, you may need to get down/dirty into its open() kernel code and have it take into account which zone you're in. If you look at the rest of TCP/IP, the netstack_t data structure hold which zone's TCP/IP stack you're using. You probably need tun/tap/whatever-it's-called to become netstack-aware. Dan p.s.
