I agree, of course. Good design and spending time thinking away of the keyboard are important. The two obvious advantages of python are: 1. Since you can implement an algorithm in two hours instead of a month, you can actually try several options with low risk/time investment. 2. Since implementing a complex algorithm is far simpler and faster to develop, you can try extreme/experimental/complex stuff that you wouldn't dare to try in other lower level languages. As a personal note, I started using python in 1998 because I was tired of spending days writing "support" stuff instead on concentrating on the real problem. How many times can you implement a hash table, a linked list, a text parser, before getting tired? :).
