The link is on the sub-page http://blog.illumos.org/

And yes, you are right, i see a lot of contributions and work on Illumos.
Joyent contributes KVM and Delphix contributes feature flags and Nexenta
contributes also to improve the base of NexentaStor.
Each of them a huge thing - technically. I would not miss all the nice things.

But all this contributions are often not done to push a common Illumos
alternative to other options but for the companies interests only.
This was ok in times of Sun and OpenSolaris when Nexenta becomes big but now
the whole Illumos world must compete against BSD, Linux and Windows. -without
Sun/Oracle in the back. Code contribution is needed but as important is a
common position, documentation, public relation work and contribution to push
the Illumos base.

Not to say that it is a pity that there are different packaging mechanism
around. That may not hinder if they would share a common repo with same package
names-
indeed this is not the case: another point for someone to coordinate..

I know its not that easy. But a Illumos world based only on good will and
community efforts can hardly be the solution.
If I may initiate some sort of thinking "How can we improve the situation" - I
would feel ok

best regards and a late Happy New Year
