Hi, maybe someone can help my with this decision. We have basically a cloud server running XStreamOS/illumos and many zones. The storage of this server is based on 5 SAS 300GB 15,000RPM disks. The zones run various web applications through apache/tomcat and imap/smtp/amavis servers. We're in the process of upgrading the storage space. We basically intend to substitute the disks with new higher capacity disks, by replacing them one by one on the pool and resilvering one by one, then autoexpand at the end of all resilverings. The new disks we've been offered have two different options: 1- SAS 600GB 15,000RPM disks 2- SAS 900GB 10,000RPM disks Obvioulsy, the first option let us double the available space, mantaining same disks performance. The second one let us triple the available space, lowering down 1/3 of disks performance. What would be your choice? How much RPM will affect my XStreamOS/illumos based cloud server? Thanks for any advice, Gabriele.
