HighPoint used to use cheap Marvell controllers, IIRC. I wouldn't seriously
recommend them.
Most people these days are using LSI cards of some form or another. There are
other vendors as well… but for SAS or SATA drives, I think LSI might be your
best bet. (Areca is another vendor that folks have had good results with, but
make sure its a supported card, not all of them are.)
