Hi, I tried the options, and it seems it moved some more forward: after the
kernel boot message
on top, I got a notice about "detected 8 cpus, but 2 enabled at boot".
Then I got a "splat" from the soundcard, and again nothing.
I already patched the kernel for the "Loud splat", as stated here:
https://www.illumos.org/issues/4316
but now I'm not sure if the iso CD was prepared before the patch...
Any other clue?

Hi,
I'm trying to install XStreamOS Desktop on a Dell precision M4500.
The DVD loads fine, the kernel starts, then hangs without ever going to the text
install phase.
I found an old post of someone trying to do the same still with OpenSolaris,
back at that times, having
the same problem, never finding a solution.
Anybody running XStreamOS, OI, or another illumos based distro on this laptop?
I'm sure there is something to be hacked on the bios...
Also, I would install it on an external disk, without disrupting the original
content of the laptop,
so to be able to boot both original windows and/or the external XStream.
Any help?
Add
-B apix_enable=0,acpi-user-options=0x2
to the kernel line on grub boot (type e before the machine boots).
If that helps, try without the acpi option.
