What I see here is that we have two problems:
a) People with English mothertongue are missing a word for the German word
"Diskussionskultur" and it is obvious that it is not only the word that
is missing...
As a result, they often claim a fact based statement to be a personal
attack and poison a discussion.
It would help if there was a bit more professionalism in this list.
b) Martin frequently adds "extra text" to his messages that should have
been avoided. The easiest way to deal with this is to ignore it.
There was another person who poisoned the discussions in this list in December
2010. If there was a lifetime ban on Martin, there should be a lifeteime ban on
this person as well. Mmmm, I just see that we then did not have this discussion.
Martin did a lot of nice things for OpenSolaris and a ban on Martin would also
disqualify this list. I am not sure whether this was the intention.
I am tired of reading sentences like "Hurd will be available next year" and I
like to see things happening and helpful existing software to be used.
Good software is good software even when it was written by a difficult person.
Being professional means to use the best solution available instead if bending
the contribution rules. Being professional also means that there is a way to
deal with all people that are trying to collaborate.
