I've been running a Linux (Ubuntu) KVM since early 2012 (tbh I thought it was longer) because of limitations of running a certain database inside LX (although that was LX in 2012) ...
It's survived the replacement of hard disks twice (moved from root disks to dedicated, and then updated the dedicated disks) next to a KVM running Windows 2008R2 (for RDP access from the SunRays to run accounts software) I don't use the kvmadm command, but I would reckon that'd be an easy way to go.
