Hi,
we're testing the Supermicro AOC-STGN-i2S SFP+, chipset IntelĀ® 82599EN
10GbE controller / Intel 82599ES 10GbE, using recent illumos kernel on
XStreamOS.
We're experiencing a strong slow down when sharing over iSCSI compared
to sharing over NFS.
Same hardware, same route, same vmware machine connecting two
datastores, one over iSCSI and one over NFS.
Same file copied over from a local vmware disk to the connected
datastore, takes 20-30 times more over iSCSI.
We never experienced this in the past with older hardware, NFS used to
be always a little bit slower instead.
I noticed this on messages:
NOTICE: IRQ16 is being shared by drivers with different interrupt levels.
Any idea?
Do you have the writeback cache enabled on the iSCSI LUN? It's usually
the culprit when I see the "performance is 20 times slower than via NFS".
