Just watching this – I’m wondering how the SDcard presents to the system. If it comes in as an SDHCI instance, then this almost certainly will not work. I wrote the code for SDHCI (a million years ago it seems), and I don’t think anyone ever considered making booting work over it (it certainly never entered into my thinking). The appearance of “blkdev” in the device path makes me think this is likely the case. (This is also super surprising, since I didn’t think anyone was using the SDHCI code anymore – all modern laptops use USB these days – it’s been about a decade since I’ve seen a system with an SDHCI implementation.) I am not even sure if it is possible to use blkdev to boot. (Maybe someone has made this work with NVME – again when I wrote that code I never considered using it for boot devices.) If instead this presents as USB, then there is much greater hope.
From: Stephan Althaus Hello! Just a shot in the dark, but are you shure that the sdcard device is visible to the loader? As i understand most illumos systems boot via SATA or SCSI, or in case of the install medium via USB..
