However, if you intend to share pool with illumos, you need to know the specifics. illumos GPT partition type in FreeBSD is named apple-zfs (its actually the uuid of illumos usr slice from vtoc). FreeBSD boot loader is searching for partition freebsd-zfs to boot the FreeBSD system.
