No no no.... IPS == Image Packaging System, aka pkg5. It was/is the OpenSolaris-and-now-OracleSolaris package manager, and it is also used by OmniOS and OpenIndiana. It's in Python. The thread-subject "IPS in Rust" is a Rust implementation of IPS. Of note, BTW, is that the IPS metadata in illumos's usr/src/pkg can be consumed by non-IPS packaging. We consume a little of it in SmartOS to turn test manifests into our tests-*.tgz tarball.
