Building and Leading a Team Committed to Designing Web Experiences that Captivate, Engage, and Empower Roundarch (www.roundarch.com <http://www.roundarch.com/> ) is seeking an experienced and cutting-edge visual design leader that is seeking the opportunity to build and lead a world-class team of visual designers. The mission of this team will be to create Web experiences that engage the imagination while empowering the user. This person will have a deep understanding of design and design systems, knows that the experience is the brand, and doesn't confuse design with art or decoration. This person knows that design is about innovations, visual communication and language, and that those things should be engaging and elegant. This person is a creative problem solver that understands and employs user-centered design processes. This person has experience in creating methodologies and work environments that facilitate collaboration and innovative thinking across entire project teams in order to create holistic experiences based on user needs and desires. This person will have the ability and strength of leadership necessary to develop and motivate the team to direct their talent, creativity, and knowledge to design interfaces that are a joy to use, facilitate understanding and enable intuitive interaction while elevating the brand. Responsibilities: - Work with senior management to develop both short- and long-term plans to build and develop a world-class visual design team - Lead, manage and develop the visual design team and set the creative vision. Mentor, direct, and motivate design teams and individuals on specific project design challenges. Work with team members to develop and refine concepts into detailed designs - Develop creative design strategy and vision for key pieces of client work. Oversee all design projects and ensure the quality of all works meets Roundarch standards - Identify, interview, and select talented candidates to build the ranks of the visual design team - Serve as the creative and innovation thought-leader of the firm internally, with our clients, and the industry/community. Stay abreast of trends, methods, and technologies that have the ability to improve and influence our work - Develop methodologies and work environments to facilitate design innovation and collaboration across project teams and across the business - Participate in new business pursuits and opportunities Requirements: - A groundbreaking portfolio reflecting 8+ years dedicated to the online space, with an emphasis on designing large Websites and online applications - A strong aesthetic sense coupled with the passion to inspire breakthrough, innovative design in a collaborative environment. The presence to be a disruptive, yet inspirational and respected force. A true thought-leader with a commitment to the discipline. - Experience in building, developing, and managing a creative team, and how that team's resources are allocated. Must be a true leader who leads by example, earns the respect of his/her team, and knows when it is necessary to dive in and "get his/her hands dirty" to help the team out and ensure great results - Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present and support creative concepts in a professional and engaging manner - The ability to build open, respectful, and trusting relationships with clients through the senior level. - Extensive experience in creating visual design for Websites and Web applications. Must demonstrate a talent for and a commitment to design excellence. Formal design education a plus. - Experience in being part of a collaborative design environment and a desire to work as part of a team. Must have the confidence and maturity to know that great ideas can come from anywhere and anyone. - Deep understanding and experience with user-centered design methodologies and practices, in particular the role of design in creating usable, effective, and engaging Web interfaces - Strong interaction design, motion graphic and cinematic animation skills. Experience in designing Web 2.0/Rich Internet Applications (utilizing technologies such as Ajax, Flex, Laszlo, etc.) a plus. - Strong information design skills with experience in data visualization.
