Yeah, that's probably why, when I co-managed just 7 designers (in the 
management-management sense), I put in my 60 hours of management (I was still 
learning and felt I had to put in the hours!) and *still* kept designing for 20 
hours every week...

That lasted 7 months. By then I had realized that full-time 
management-management wasn't my thing (yet?) and that I preferred a somewhat 
more designer-y role.

Now I am a senior designer, mentor of 3 designers, and only partly responsible 
for managing the 10-person UX department. I feel healthy :-)
