I was thinking lately about optimizing my Windows desktop.
It has too many shortcuts in it. I'm trying to group them but mostly
it doesn't work well and they take too much space.

What do you think about possible solution described below?

On your desktop there are several special icons with small marks. They
might look like regular icons or nice buttons.
Technically speaking those icons are folders that behave differently.

You click one of those icons with name "4Photo". List of icons of
photo-related applications popups below it. You choose which one you
want to launch and just click on the icon.

Also you can rearrange them, resize list the way you want and easily
remove items from there using context menu.

To add new item simply drag'n'drop it there.

Do you think it will work in real life?

Thank you.
