In addition to the institution's core Web sites, our team works to create and improve sites and e-newsletters for University schools, departments, centers, and administrative units. The information architect is a unique position at the university. This person will be the team's IA expert and guru. Working with approximately 12 full time staff, freelancers, and vendors, the architect will identify and implement effective site structures and organize large amounts of content across many sites, disciplines and programs. The architect will develop a wide range of solutions that will improve user experience, increase efficiency for content management, and facilitate publishing user oriented content across the University. The information architect is responsible for developing methods of organizing and labeling Web sites, e-newsletters, discussion forums, and other digital/online formats. The information architect will determine ways to bring principles of design and architecture to the digital landscape to support the usability and accessibility of the University's interactive communications. Candidates must thoroughly understand information architecture best practices, W3C standards, and make regular use of online resources to maintain an understanding of new methods and technologies used in the field. A bachelor's degree is required. Working closely with Web designers, developers, and other staff, the information architect will determine navigation methods and site maps, and play a primary role in developing page wireframes.
