Hi Majid,

You might be interested in this upcoming UPA MN event if you are already
here in the Twin Cities:

Please join us January 10th for Dr. Kathleen Harder's presentation on
her recent human factors research into system-wide automated medical
record (AMR) systems!
**********************
While the nation spends more than half a trillion dollars a year on
health care, the use of automation in the health care industry lags
behind other industries. Many health care organizations are currently
planning on implementing large-scale automated information systems,
but few organizations have fully automated one of the most critical
types of information, patient medical records.
The UPA-MN is pleased to have Dr. Kathleen Harder present her recent
research on system-wide automated medical record (AMR) systems. A
complex and critical issue, Dr. Harder will discuss computer-user
interface issues such as information display, functionality, and
consistency, as well as issues surrounding space constraints and the
accessibility of computer equipment. She will also address important
issues pertaining to staff acceptance, including computer literacy and
training.
Please join us for this engaging and timely presentation!

More about our speaker: Kathleen A. Harder, Ph.D.
University of Minnesota, Senior Research Associate, Center for Human
Factors Systems Research and Design
Kathleen Harder's general research interests involve investigating how
various systems (environmental contexts) can be designed to enhance
human performance. She is the principal investigator or co-principal
investigator of a number of current and recent studies focusing on the
design of safer transportation environments, patient safety issues,
and the systems which surround and support electronic medial records.
Harder was educated in Sweden, at Stockholm University, where she
obtained an M.Sc. in Experimental Psychology, and in the USA at
Dartmouth, where she obtained a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology.
