agree "but when say lots, not nearly enough to build a substantial IxD for hardware community around." How do you define substantial? In the past two years at Respironics, I've only worked on one medical product that did not have both significant hardware and software elements. Also, I know there are at least several consultancies staying very busy with embedded medical product design. This is definitely an area with tons of potential for IxD growth.
