There are at least five different conversations in this thread. Which ones are you challenging?
1) Are there any studies about why Arial is used for web apps more than Verdana? 2) Are studies a valid approach to making typographic decisions? 3) Should one space or two follow a period? 4) In what ways does the digitial medium constrain our approach to typography? 5) What do the previous four topics have to do with interaction design? If you care about the broader community's answer to the fifth question, I'd recommend starting a new thread.
