Also keep in mind that there tonnes of Design firms that automatically do design research in order to identify the appropriate design (i.e. it's one of their offerings, or part of their service), so you may want to look at general design firms as well. In order to narrow down your company search, you may want to think about what kind of design research you are looking for.... as some firms view design broadly from 2D to 3D to business or branding strategy; others specialize in an area.
