User Experience Designer
As our UX team at Martha Stewart continues to grow, we seek a strong,
all-around user experience designer to help us inspire smart design
within our Internet Department. Join our lean and nimble user experience team
at Martha Stewart in New
York, working on highly interactive applications and helping us define
interaction standards as we compliment and strengthen the company's
strong brand awareness in the Weddings and bridal category with a set
of innovative tools for the bride.
Role Description
The User Experience Designer / Information Architect (IA) will
research, plan, design and document user interfaces for web-based tools
to inspire a bride and provide her with practical tools in planning her
special day, to support her at all stages of the 'bridal experience'.
The ideal candidate
+ Is detail-oriented
+ Has excellent communication, presentation, and client management skills
+ Is comfortable with the standard IA process and looks for ways to improve it
+ Understands and has opinions about current industry best practices
+ Is experience with designing transactional user interfaces
+ Wants to develop a design pattern library
+ Manages internal clients and own time efficiently
+ Collaborates effectively in a cross-functional environment
+ Has an excellent sense of humor
The IA will be responsible for
+ User research
+ Personas
+ Feature maps & prioritization
+ Sitemaps
+ Wireframes
+ Prototyping
+ Functional specifications (or annotated wire frames)
+ Use cases
+ User testing
Required qualities
+ Minimum 4 years of experience working as an IA
Desired qualities
+ Experience with Web application design (AJAX technologies)
+ Experience within interactive agency
+ Good writing skills
+ Experience in creating products and solutions that are useful to consumers
and attractive to advertisers
+ Wedding industry category experience ideal, but not a must
+ A portfolio of sample work must be reviewed before an interview will be
scheduled
