I designed a Pong game for the visually impaired while at NYU-ITP. It was a challenge to create a purely physical and sound based interface. It's in it's third version... development is moving along slowly as it's a "Garage" project at this point.
The fun parts were designing a hand-wheel interface that could withstand the abuse of being in a public space, and creating a sound instrument out of a solenoid, dixie cup, and manila folder that does not have any fastners. (It's sort of like laser cut oragami). <rant>But wait! That's not interface design!... well I would argue that it is, and I'm anxious to help move the interaction design field to a place where it gives up the keyboard and mouse and incorporates more industrial design. Screens will be cheaper than whiteboards in another 3-5 years. (according to Bill Buxton) and we are going to have to really think beyond our sheet-of-paper sized glowing glass rectangles. </rant> -Andrew _ __ ___ ____ _____ Andrew G.
